Contracting jobs on Fort Hood, Texas
Does anyone know of any clerical admin contracting jobs on post. I am seeking employment right away, I know it's wishful thinking. But i I thought I'd ask.
Thanks

Hi All!!!
My brother lives in Harker Heights and wants me and my daughter to move there as well. Can anyone give me information on schools, what side of town, or just your honest opinion of the area. All I know is it's seems to be built around highway 35. I've lived the city life for years and I want a little more quiet life for my daughter. I'd also like to be close enough to get to the city if I'd like to do a night out. I went to a place called Round Rock the other day, it seems to be close for shopping.
Any suggestions??? Please help....

FT HOOD has a list of contrractors on its website. Contact them. CPOL and USAJOBS have only GS/NSPS/Civil Service/Federal jobs listed.

Round Rock is about 30-40 minutes from Harker Heights. It's basically an extension of Austin now. Harker Heights is a nice community if you live South of 190. Nice homes built with new shopping districts popping all over the place. It's very quiet and looks a bit more affluent than Killeen. Don't know if is for sure though.

Hi there. We lived in Harker Heights for a year and then moved to Austin. Some people like it there, I personally did not. Why? Because it was basically an extension of Killeen. Lots of strip malls, very little if any culture, lots of bad attitudes and chain restaurants. As for the schools, they keep building them in response to these mega cookie cutter subdivisions and as soon as they build them, they are already busting at the seams. I am sure there are some great teachers, but classrooms are overcrowded and kids are shuffled around like robots (image a 15 minute recess for preK and kindergarteners!!!).
That being said, there are some places I'd choose over others in HH...specifically up more towards Nolanville. Just my 2 cents. Take it with a grain of salt because I am not one to enjoy living around military bases in general.

that is EXACTLY why i dont live in those towns near Ft Hood. i continue to tell everyone that the small rural country towns of Gatesville, Lampasas, etc are MUCH better. and not that much further a commute to post.

Thanks for the feedback. I truly appreciate it. I looked at San Antonio, but my family would like us a little closer. Right now we're still in Kansas, I know you don't even have to say it :-(. Hopefully we'll be there by the summer.
Thanks again!!!!
