Red Wings boots are going to be more common in the Golden Triangle. If you're in SE TX or any large metro in the state, the western getup is not going to be very common at all, unless it's rodeo season and then it's all out. In rural areas of W, E and Central TX I see it a lot more, including the triple-height wallet on one side and the Skoal circle on the other, with bow-leggedness as a bonus. But baseball caps still seem to dominate over the 10 gallon.

It's honestly too uncomfortable in the heat & humidity down here to dress like that. A lot of us in SE TX look more like beach bums than anything... single cotton layer & sandals. And honestly, cowboy boots feel horrible unless you spend $350+ per pair... then they're quite nice. I also wouldn't saddle up my kid in that outfit to live my failed '8-second' dream through him, or whatever the case may be.

All that honestly is a costume in 2008, but remains a Texas stereotype (as are a lot of things). A lot of outsiders come visit and are surprised to see the average Texan doesn't dress like that, nor are they anything at all like the Texas stereotypes they've been told.

How crazy would this idea be.... a porch swing on a second-floor apartment balcony?? Odd or no?
