Default Weird cell phone numbers calling me, anyone else?

Just curious, I have received two strange phone calls in the last three days. The first one was from 989-151-016191 and the second, 750-271-12
No message was left. I am not too worried about them, I just think it's weird that they were 12 and 8 digit phone numbers. Does anyone know anything about these? I have Sprint cell phone service.

I get many on my landline, so just keep it unhooked, unless my computer is hooked up. Now have been getting them on my cell phone. Parasites. Needs to be a law

There IS a law against it, but how do you track them? A lot of these caller ID readers simply come up with fake area codes & numbers. Or the phone number to the White House.

I have thought about getting new phone numbers. Does anyone know if that would help?

No, at least not in the big cities where numbers are constantly recycled. Down here, whenever you get a new phone number and call someone, the last person's name shows up on the caller ID for a couple weeks. And when I got a new cell phone number I immediately started getting voicemails in Spanish and text messages from DFW asking me if I wanted come over to smoke. Though if you're in a remote area, you might be better off. I'm sure there are such things as random number dialers that will sweep all possibilities and log which numbers are working. The working number list is then spread via some underground network.

I don't know, just some thoughts... It's gonna be hard to escape.

I live in a rural area in Illinois and used to work as a telemarketer(don't hate me I hated it as much as the people I called but it payed my tuition payments till I could find another job) and we used a number that if you called it back would play a recording about how unlucky the person was and play a recorded song. Very retarted. In my last few weeks with the company we began calling cellphones. If you answer and someone begins to talk tell them that you are on both your state's and the federal do not call list (even if your not) if they continue to call after that they can be sued, even if they say they aren't selling anything they should still be liable. The company I worked for was sued 2 times in the year I was there for this reason, but this was in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois, so it might be different in Texas.

Thanks for the tips, tstone and clad. I never pick up. How does one get on the state/federal do not call list?
