Those are very good photos, WestTx. I went to the U. of North TX and like it a great deal, although Denton is losing that small college town feel as it is growing fast. I think Lubbock is an interesting place.

Yeah, Denton is in the process of being swallowed up by D/FW. Nice town though.

My favorite is Texas State University, where my brother works:
Texas State sets new enrollment record of 29,125 : University News Service : Texas State University
Located perfectly between Austin and San Antonio, two of the most distinct cities in Texas, this school is remarkably "under the radar" for a school with over 29,000 students (adding a thousand a year).
Go tubing or swimming in the spring-fed river originating right there on campus, or take the glass-bottom boat tour. How freaking cool is that ?

Not counting my own alma mater (Southwestern in Georgetown), I would say Rice. My favorite college campus of all, though, is Rhodes in Memphis.

I've said this on another thread. Depends on the major for Criminal Justice -Sam Houston is in the top 3 in the nation and far better than anything else in the state and its located by the state prison. UNT who many on here seem to like, has a great attitude towards kids and its public admin program is tops. UTEP with its Bhutanese architecture is unique and a nice growing school.
UT and A&M are like the Fords and Chevys of 20 years ago- very popular because of their size but once you find a specialty and do your research there may be something better.
My favorite college in the country is Cal -Berkeley, by most ratings its the best public university in the world and its full of international students and famous professors. Its not as large and impersonal as UT Austin and its 17 libraries make it seem small and large at the same time.
