There was a time there weren't so many payday loan businesses. Seems they came in with the influx of California xplants. Like rats chasing cheese. I expect those Cali xplants to start pushing for regulations just any legislative session now. The guys writing the state constitution had it right... If the legislature ain't meeting it can't do more damage.

LOL I swear, Two4damoney, it must be a yankee and/or California type thing. And I will never understand it...

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against yankees per se (unless they start talking about their winning the War Between the States! ), as my own kids are half-yankee and some of my very good friends are northern born. Hells bells, I will even go so far as to say many of these transplants can and do become very good and loyal Texans/Southerners and excellent friends and neighbors to have!

BUT...there is a certain disproportionate number -- at least it seems to me -- that are the type you mention. They pi$$ (forgive the inelegancy, ladies) and moan and whine and b*tch and complain about this and that and whatever in Texas...but they stay here.

And further (to add insult to injury! ), they then try to transform our state into the very same one they ruined and fled to begin with....

I totally agree. And like you said its bad enough that they bother us with their complaining but then they want to change the way that we live to suit their likes. I say if they think where they came from is so much better then they should just do us all a favor and go back there. I'll even chip in for their ticket. lol

I guess this would be a good place to pitch in my two cents worth...

So true...especially in the sense that many SoCal communities, including at the county level, have police forces that set-up routine check points. Soviet-style check points. "Your papers, please."

Those police check points are not allowed in Texas unless they are announced and as part of a DWI crackdown on certain holidays, from what I understand. And in Houston, that's not even usual.

In California (and other states), they just simply set up checkpoints and ask everyone for their papers...and that is not supposed to happen in a supposedly "free country."

Escondido PD, San Diego PD, National City PD...

Ahhhhh, the nice Texas hospitality displayed on this forum. I'd be interested to see how this would be parlayed in real life.

Californians (I live here) know they're not known for their hospitality, but I thought Texas, stemming from "Tejas," was supposed to mean "friend." Sure doesn't seem like it on this forum.

I'm a California transplant, and there is plenty of hospitality here, we just dont like to partake with the typical angry idiots complaining that it sucks here and it was better in their home state. There is no Utopia but I much rather be living here, than in Cali. Texas > California
