Real Texans love Texas more than the United States.
I'm a real Texan. I fly the Texas flag and would prefer it if the Feds would keep their a-- out of our business.

I'm not a real Texan, but this post is kind of hard for me to fathom that people think more of Texas than the country. To each his/her own, I guess.

I was transferred to TX by way of the US Navy in 12/90. Lived in Grand Prairie for about 6 mos, and then in Arlington for some 12 years. Moved to Grandview in 2002, and back to Alvarado in 12/04. Do not regret living in TX at all, but I will say that at first, for the first year or so, I couldn't stand it. Now I can't stand the thought of living anywhere else within reason. Home of record is Mississippi, although I've not lived in that great state since 1970, except for a year when going to school at Ole Miss.
I've lived in Florida, Virginia, Louisiana, and Colorado, too, but none compare to my present abode. I like the people for the most part, and the laid-back attitude as a whole. I remember one trip back to MS several years ago. On the return trip, I actually breathed a sigh of relief when I crossed the state line outside Shreveport, and stopped at the Welcome Center. I always stop there on my return trips, now.
So, I guess I can call myself a Texan, now, after nearbout 18 years. But I won't give in to the saying about getting here as fast as I could.
Hm.

LOL! Lets see? I was born in Europe. (Romania) I do not consider myself Romanian. I lived in the suburbs of Philly for 23 years, but I left there and moved to Las Vegas 4 years ago. I am not a Vegasan, and I must have left Philly for a reason.
I have been reading the Texas threads and a lot of people here think like I do. Does that make me a Texan that lives in Vegas? I hate it here!

Ok, first thing I'll say, I'm probably a "fake Texan" by most of your standards. I still love my Twins, Vikings, etc, don't get the whole hook 'em horns thing... I'm 34 though. If I moved here as a kid, it would be a whole different story I'm sure. Despite the fact I overall do like it here I think I'll always deep down be a Minnesotan at heart. I could just never go back to living there unless global warming does a number on the winters.
It's kind of funny with the whole "native Texan" thing though. Back in MN I don't think I ever once saw a "native Minnesotan" bumper sticker. Maybe it's because if you're living there it's just assumed you're a native and don't need to make a fuss over it. I suppose the born and raised natives here see their state being taken over by people from all over so it's different.

I was born in West Virginia, raised in Ohio, unfortunately lived in Louisiana for 10 years, and finally moved to Texas in 1990. There isn't any of the other 49 states that I would want to live in. Other than seeing family, there is no reason for me to cross Texas boundaries again. I fly the Texas flag, I read Texas history, I vacation in Texas.
I am not a native Texan, but each day I strive to be the best Texan that I can be.
God Bless Texas!
