Brownwood/Early - A Great Place To Live
Just north of the geographic center of Texas lies Brownwood and the adjacent community of Early. This micro-plex still boasts small-town life while having the amenities you would find in much larger cities.
Some 23,000 residents are in Brownwood/Early proper. Many people choose to live near Lake Brownwood, which offers a variety of outdoor activities as well as Lake Brownwood State Park, a hot spot for camping, fishing, and boating.
Brownwood offers a 4A school district, while Early a thriving 2A. In addition, Brownwood has Howard Payne University, which offers a number of majors ranging from Psychology and Theology to Nursing and Education.
I moved to the area just 5 years ago from a community about 45 minutes away. I've never regretted it, and I enjoy the small town life. I rarely have to travel out of town for needs. We enjoy the 5th-busiest WalMart store in the state, a Home Depot, multiple sites of chain stores like CVS and Walgreens, Staples, and restaurants all the way from fast food to fine dining. Restaurants like Chili's, Subway, and Underwood's are favorites, in addition to many home-grown attractions like Mi Familia Mexican Restaurant, the finest Tex-Mex in central Texas.
Brownwood is also home to industry like 3M, Kohler, Chevron-Phillips, and Superior Cable, which together employ over 2000 people.
Entertainment abounds here with a mall, movie theater, and a coliseum which hosts events constantly.
Want to get away from the city hustle and bustle? Try Brownwood. I did.

i agree-that is nothing to brag about-that is a ding against Brownwood. i like my two Walmarts nearby me-they are so quiet, that i can always find parking right up front, i NEVER EVER have to wait in line for a checker. both are "in and out", easy. LOVE EM!

Just go on off hours (ie not at 3-6, when folks are getting off work), Show up at midnite and see what great service you get!

5th-busiest WalMart store in the state!!! My, that is impressive. I can't for the life of me figure out where this "fine" dining you speak of is...
