Actually it sounds like you get them quite well. That's how they roll in North Texas. Remember these quotes and their translation, too:

"I'll pray for you" = You're going to hell, you heathen.
"Bless your heart" = You dumbass.

"Bless your heart" has nothing to do with religion - it's a Southern way of being "polite" that only those in the know read for what it actually means. (And the meanings can be varied depending on context.)

Baptists don't teach people to be closed minded, at least not the churches I've been to. Must be some weird offshoot calling themselves baptist.

Yeah, let's don't tell everything

In response to the main subject of this thread, yes but like everywhere else some people are going to not like something and that something might happen to be atheism. For example, some atheist don't like Baptist, some Baptist don't like atheist, and some Baptist will have no problems with atheist vice versa. But for the most part in America I would say everyone is welcome anywhere, but some people will be unhappy with you almost no matter where you are.

I really think this question "Are atheist welcome in Texas?" is common sense almost. You can't assume that in a state as large as Texas there are no atheist, and if there are atheist living here then I would consider them welcome. Sometimes people need to use their brains.

And also in response to your other questions, if you have a problem with the religious people then do things with atheist. Its not to hard to figure that out either.

Baptists aren't all alike. Some of them are very accepting and liberal , while others are judgemental and awful to be around unless you're just like them, in which case you're awful to be around. Methodists also cover quite a range. I think it all boils down to what sort of person one is to begin with, and judgemental bigots use their religion to justify their attitudes.

NO, we don't want any non-believers here. If you want to move somewhere....go to hell, I hear it's nice and warm there also.
