Austin is way way Over-hyped!! IMO Austin is just trying to be another Dallas. It needs to get back to hits "laid back" hippie roots and steer away from the "new pretentiousness" it has come to know!

Austin. Their slogan should be "Keep Austin over-hyped".

Whoa now, I don't think Austin is in any danger of being another Dallas, nor does it want to be. If you think Austin is trying to be Dallas or Houston, just consider the facts: When anyone in Dallas or Houston describes a neighborhood or place in their city as "Austin-like", it's always a positive thing. However, if any neighborhood or in Austin (or SA or Dallas/Houston for that matter) is described as being Dallas-Like or Houston-Like, it is always a negative thing.

Now, I've lived in all three cities... and although I chose Austin and can't see living anywhere else in Texas, I AGREE it's the most overhyped city of the three.

People don't really hype Dallas or Houston AFAIK, so they are clearly not overhyped... Both are great cities that receive a bad rap, especially Houston... they are both much better than their reputations.

LOL! I would not use "Austin-like" as a positive way to describe a neighborhood.

I love Austin, I loved living there, but it is over-hyped. Not usually by native Austinites, though.

I agree, but facts are facts... and if you've lived in Dallas or Houston, you know that what I am saying is true...

Oh, yeah, I love living in Dallas. I could live anywhere, and I choose to live here.

Houston sucks! I think it is HIGHLY overrated.
The weather is a constant heat plus humidity mix. The traffic is horrible! The people are not as friendly as you would find in the Dallas area.
I can't wait to get out of here.

I like Austin, so I'll vote for Dallas. It's really just because of my hatred for the Mavs and their fans.
