Can anyone tell me about Brenham, TX
Can anyone kindly provide us with some information about Brenham, TX? Is this a good place to raise a family. What are the schools like? Crime, friendly people, things to do, shopping? Thanks!

My Aunt and Uncle just moved there. I like Brenham. It's a very pretty town. Blinn College is there, so it's got a youthful vibe. It also has a great downtown (old style 1800's kind) with tons of shops. It's also close to Austin and Bryan/ College Station (home to A&M University). I'd say it's a good place to raise a family.

Its pretty and friendly and in many ways a typical small town.
Each year however they have a great rabbit show and my kids and I got the prettiest and sweetist rabbit there for $10.

Umm, that's where they make Blue Bell ice cream. The best ice cream anywhere.

That's where the contented cows live. Otherwise, it's a nice country side, rolling hills, nice 'n green in the spring. Close enough to Houston to get what you want, far enough away for comfort.

And there is a somewhere odd scene - nuns raising miniature horses - seems like there should be some kind of punch line.....

My wifes family is from there and it is a nice small town..And no longer to far from the big city of Houston with the newer highway.
When wife goes there I always have her bring back some homemade bread for me.

Does anyone know anything about the schools there? I don't see a whole lot of choice of private schools and there does not seem to be a Montessori school.

Greatschools has Brenham High School rated an 8 out of 10. Don't know how old your kids are, but if the high school is rated that well I imagine the grade schools are as well. I googled Montessori and private schools in Brenham. It listed some Church based private schools and nearby Montessori schools. The Montessori's were either in Humble or Bryan/College Station. Bryan/Cs is very close by so if you really wanted your child to go I don't think it would be a very bad drive to get them there.
