In all seriousness, I do use instant tea, but it's unsweetened. But when I'm going out, it's always fresh-brewed. I tend to go back and forth depending on what I crave.

Oh, its a habit, I've seen the non packet kind but not sure how to measure it, I know how many packets I need...

Splenda is my favorite, but it is more expensive. I only like splenda in my coffee, so I mix half spenda and half sweet and low in the tea.

So my final mix is half sugar, quarter sweet and low and quarter splenda. Makes for a good sweet tea that isn't too syrupy nor to chemical.

At home I always make it unsweetened. When eating out I sometimes have *lightly* sweetened.

I lived in the Deep South for ten years and never got the point of having tea so sweet that you needed a glass of water to wash it down.

That's me, too. It's just not the same to add sugar after the fact. I've noticed that more restaurants are asking your preference. I know most Texans make it sweet at home and I've never understand why it's the opposite when you go out to eat. Or is that just in the big city?

Moving from Georgia to TX the first time (1984) it seemed I never found sweet tea when eating out. This second go round in TX, it seems much more prevalent.

I think the folks at Chick-Fil-A know me. LOVE their sweet tea.

Native Texan w/ a long line of Southerners behind them. At home I make it sweet. I dropped the sweet when I was pregnant w/ 1st but craved it w/ no. 2 and haven't stopped yet. Out to eat unless the place already has sweet tea I don't sweeten it. It just don't work. I don't like lemon in my tea either. Hubby likes lime. Can't do the artificial sweeteners. Tried Splenda and it gave me BAD headaches. Stopped using it and they went away.

Making it at home is on the stove in a pot and when the water boils drop in two Family Size Luzianne Decaf teabags and turn off the heat. Let it steep for awhile and pour it in the pithcer w/ the sugar waiting in the pitcher. Stir and add cold water. YUM! I do like to have a little left over for the next day so that I don't have to wait till I make some to have it. Never put fresh tea in the fridge or it gets cloudy. Wait a few hours.

If your family is split on sweet/unsweet you can make it unsweet and have some simple syrup to use for those that like it sweet. All you do is boil some water and add sugar then pour it up in something to keep and pour from as needed. This makes it actually WORK unlike raw sugar in cold tea.
