I am originally from North Texas. I have to say, growing up I never paid too much attention to the weather. Yes, it gets HOT in the summer, but you get nice winters and usually a snowfall or ice storm, which was always a fun surprise.
I have lived outside of Houston for the past 5 years. People do not know what really hot, humid weather is until they live here. It sucks so bad, we are moving to PA to get away from it.
I have also lived in West Texas (Marfa.) Beautiful weather!!!!!

I have lived in Texas all of my 47 years and am tired of the heat...I
have been looking into buying something in Colorado...but my daughters
seem to think we will freeze to death...they aren't really looking forward
to snow...but I really think that is because they have never been
around it and don't know what to expect...if we end up staying where
we are (Gulf coast area...hurricanes, heat and humidity)...I honestly
think I am going to start following the seasons around and run every
time another hurricane shows up...tired of that crap!

With today's weather, it is beyond me how anyone could possibly be complaining.

I'm not a big fan of intense heat, but I found central and north Texas more bearable than College Station. We're turning down fairly significant money in Houston, in part, because we don't like the weather there. But as others have noted, Texas weather is generally pleasant for the better part of the year.

There are also a vast (and I mean vast) number of Texans moving to Oklahoma as well. I think it is most likely the cost of living but I think the cooler weather in Oklahoma does play a factor.

I guess you have to put up with some negatives most anywhere you live but it's not enough for me to up and leave the state entirely.

We moved here to San Antonio from Va two years ago, and its been a rough adjustment for us. I can't say I like it. The heat can get very exhausting here. It does cool off but it seems like forever before it finally does. Right now the weather is wonderful though. It can get ugly humid here sometimes, and we rarely see rain. I am not kidding about the rain- it will rain a deluge and then not rain for weeks or months. I do miss the rain, some clouds or cloudy days, four real seasons ... but the pluses are abundant sunshine for your gardens and lots of outdoor time of you play sports, etc.
We lived in Tulsa Oklahoma years ago, and you get some real extreme weather there. Good low cost of living, nice people, great four seasons, but dangerous storms. I liked it there except for miserable allergies, which we have even worse here in SA.

Crank Up That Cool Air
I'm really more of a warm-weather person. Generally, I prefer temps of 80 by day and 60 by night. As far as the heat goes, I don't really mind it, because I'd much rather live in the Sun Belt..........and crank up my Saturn's A/C full blast!

I love it right now. Fall is my favorite season. But spring with severe weather and summer with its cringe-inducing humidity aren't pleasing to me. I'd probably like it in Far West Texas (Alpine/Marfa/Ft Davis), where there is much less humidity. Houston would be the worst climatically.
