Houston- Trae, Zro, Lil Flip, Michael Watts, Mike Jones, DJ Screw, Lil Keke, Paul Wall, Guerrilla Maab, Lucky Luciano, SPM, Chingo Bling, Big Moe, Big Hawk, Pokey, Chalie Boy, Bun B, Pimp C, Jayton, Slim Thug, Boss Hogg Outlawz, UGK, EGK, Scarface, Wine O, Geto Boyz, and a few others...
San Antonio- 3rd Degree, Kyle Lee
Dallas- Tum Tum
Corpus Christi- Flatline, 4 Corner Hustlaz
Waco- Verbal Seed, Strange Fruit
Most of Texas rap is underground other than Lil Flip, Mike Jones, and Paul Wall.... I hope it stays that way because I hate that mainstream crap where people write your lyrics for you! Trae and Zro are legendary like Tupac! If they go mainstream I think that will ruin them. I don't think they are trying to go mainstream, but Trae's song "So Hot" kind of worries me.

Not even & I'm sure both of them would be the first to admit that.

In my book they are just as good. They put so much emotion into their songs, voice and lyrics. People don't write their music for them. And Zro sounds kind of like Tupac sometimes. The only difference is that they aren't very well known as Tupac was internationally known. That is the only reason it is hard to compare the two from Pac.

Yea Houston is known as Screwston for a reason. I dont think any other cities in Texas have anything close to the Hip Hop scene Houston. Only NYC and ATL(not a fan of snap music) have a larger hip hop scene than Houston. We have a rapper here in Houston who sells tamales out of his trunk....H-town AKA Hustle Town. lol.

What a stupid comment. You really show your intelligence with this comment.
Now for the people that says there's not much outside of Houston. Must disagree.
The best in Houston is not the people most mentioned on this thread for one.
The best Houston has to offer is from K-Otix, Niyat, Kay, K-Rino, Snap, the entire SPC, Chamillionaire, Killa Kyleon and several more. Not garbage like Mike Jones, Paul Wall, SPM, or Chingo Bling.
Dallas-Fort Worth gives you twisted black, Sixx-two, PPT, headcrack and a few more themselves. They never could break into the mainstream though. Twisted black could have done it if he didn't get into trouble.
Austin gives you Bavu Blakes, Ryno, Gerald G, and a couple more. San Antonio gives you Mojoe and Waco gives you SFP and Verbal Seed.
Point is that Texas has a lot of talent and alot of talent outside of Houston. Just be glad that the state of Texas isn't on the radio. Have you people heard what's on there now? Makes you want to - -> I don't want Texas music to sound like the radio. Remember 2005, terrible. Nice to see Texas in the spotlight but the music was average at best.

I disagree that it's only those two. I would say the Bay Area (where many of Houston's style was influenced from) has a larger scene as well as Los Angeles. Also Chicago and Philadelphia has about the same size

I'm not from Texas, however, I do listen to a lot of underground music. I must say, I'm more impressed with rappers from Austin than anywhere else in Texas.

Ever heard Trae, Zro, Bun B, Pimp C, Lil Keke, or Kyle Lee?
Chamillionaire sucks! His voice is annoying
