Default Question about the LOOP in Lubbock

Hey Lubbock residents, I have a super quick question about the loop around out there.

It seems every time I come North from Amarillo to Lubbock (I-27 South) trying to find the exit to get to hwy 84 (into Slayton/Snyder), I seem to always miss the exit.

Could anyone here please tell me which exit is it to get to Hwy 84 heading South to I-20?

Thanks

Default Watch Your Signs

It can be tricky if you don't follow your signs carefully. You should have what's called control cities at your exit. It should say Post and/or Snyder at the U.S. 84 exit. I believe it's the very next exit after I-27 if you go eastbound, as a couple of major east-side north-south side streets don't go completely under Loop 289. There's a tight convergence of three highways coming together in South Lubbock (U.S. 84, I-27, Loop 289) and the triangle is about a mile and a half to two miles in circumference. If 84 is ever upgraded to a freeway, it could create a very interesting situation there.

If you are going southbound on I-27, you'd need to exit at U.S. 84 (Exit mm 1B) and it's just south of 50th. It's not a direct connect; you will see a traffic signal.

If you're heading south on I27, then you exit about a mile before you get to the south side of the loop and then end up driving up over the loop and head sw. It's right before all those motels on the right. It is hard to find because the exit is earlier than you would expect.
