That is a stupid thing to say. People like you have problems. Just because South Texas is different you think it should be another country. Thats like saying Detroit might as well be Africa with American stores.
Some people are freakin retarded!

No, it is not a stupid thing to say. It is simply what it is. South Texas, overall, IS alot like Mexico-heavily hispanic culture. It's just the facts.
Sure I have problems just like you and everyone does. Life is not perfect. We are going to have problems. If you are saying that I have a problem because I think South Texas is like North Mexico, that's silly.
I'm not saying it "SHOULD" be another country-just "SEEMS" like it. Nothing more, nothing less.
To refer to me as "freakin retarded" is immature and also very insensitive to those who are mentally retarded. They are humans too and you shouldn't use the word "retarded" as a negative connotation to put someone down. Please have some respect for our fellow human beings, whether they are disabled or mentally retarded. The mentally retarded are God's children too.

Touchy Touchy!!
Whats retarded is saying Detroit is Africa......is Detroit NEXT to Africa? NO.
South Texas IS NEXT to Mexico. So I can agree with the context of the posters comment.

To those who seem to be offended by comparing deep south Texas to Mexico, I challenge you to live there for a couple months. But take a Spanish course first; you'll have an easier time communicating in certain parts. You also need to know how to properly pronounce all those city names. (e.g., Refugio is NOT pronounced re-foo-jee-o).
Now... keep in mind that Texas (or the Spanish "Tejas"), was part of Mexico for a few hundred years!! When Texas gained it's independence (remember the Alamo and San Jacinto?), the Mexicans living there continued to live there. The Texan-Mexicans considerably outnumbered the white guys. And the further south you go in the state, the more in the minority the whites become.
Texas did not become part of the United States until December 29, 1845.
TEX-MEX: where Texas, Mexico, English & Spanish meet.

I live in Corpus Christi and have a lot of family in the valley. You don't need spanish in South Texas. And the only city in the valley that is similar to Mexico is Brownsville. And the reason I said that is because Detroit is 90% black. So you are pretty much saying if something isn't how you are used to it being it might as well be another country. Oh I guess New England has a strong European influence so it might as well be part of England or France or Italy. It is stupid to say stuff like that. Such stereotypes.

So you are saying if something is next to another country then it might as well be? So I guess Buffalo and Seattle might as well be part of Canada. Detroit is 90% Black. And South Texas varies from 50% to 98% hispanic. So if South Texas might as well be Mexico, then Detroit might as well be Africa. And where white people are a majority, they might as well be a part of Europe huh?
