I agree with that. If $3,500 is spent, why waste it on something that is wanted and not needed? I'd take the skid loader any day, but I'd have to learn how to run it first.

This past year, I spent almost that much on something I felt was definitely needed, a privacy fence on one side of my property. I've lived at my present location for 21 years before this became a necessity. How I hate to spend money, but this was a must lest I lose my mind with certain neighbors who had lived there for less than a year. I wouldn't call being thrifty a Texas mentality, but it's mine for sure.

I'm going to make one post on "Ann Richards" and "George Bush" and thats it, only because I am on enough political forums out there and I really don't care to have another one to try to keep up with.

Ann Richards: As a person, I didn't like her. Not at all. But she did do an OK job as governor and I'd have voted for her again if the opportunity arose.

George Bush: I don't give a damn where he was born, he was alright as a governor because he didn't play the games of holding people on death row forever keeping them a burden on the tax payers. And as President he did something that needed to be done. No it wasn't the "popular thing to do" and it did cost us in more ways than one. But make no mistake about it, When the future generations look at GW, They won't see the idiot that many of you people are trying to make him out to be. That is why all the band wagon jumpers hate him so much. It's also the reason we now have what we have as an incoming president.

I don't think so. One of those "Best of 2008" shows just ran a video of all the GW gaffes and when they were viewed back to back, it was both hilarious and terrifying.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming on the Texan mentality...

Yeah, as I said in the other thread I started, Texas is the 2nd most populous state in the country with 24 million people, so at this point it's almost impossible to catagorize it as one way or another.

another thing is, i always hear the stereotypes (not saying i agree with them) about texas, but I'm very curious as to what their stereotypes of california, or the bay area is. no offense taken either way so lay it on me =]

Why don't you ask the residents of Sunnyvale, Texas for an answer on that one.

Sunnyvale is a very small Dallas suburb with about 4,000 inhabitants however it "feels" bigger than it really is because its connected with the much larger Dallas suburb of Mesquite that blurs city lines. You really can't tell when you're in one city & out of the next in D/FW. Dallas is much like LA in that regard.
