I could not ask for a more perfect winter. It is very bearable.

30's and 40's are okay. When it gets into the 20's, if there's wind, that's a bit nippy. But anything below zero, even with no wind, is just plain MISERABLE. Also, winter gets old when it drags on for months and months.

Yes as does summer and heat. As gorgeous as AK is and even if I had the chance, I'm sure I'd choose to stay in TX because of AK's freezing and long winter weather.
I have a friend from MN and he says even when it was 40 below, it was okay with a t-shirt on as long as the wind wasn't blowing. I don't think I could take it.

There are people here who think it isn't cold when the wind isn't blowing (because it doesn't blow much in Fairbanks). Oh and one other thing I learned since moving here - it can get too cold to snow. Everywhere else I lived snow was a sign that it was really cold.

Yes ma'am, you took the words right out of my mouth. I don't like how the wind chill as a way of driving right through your skin with a bite. Brrrrrrrr!

Lived in Ft Worth until our family moved to Minnesota. Lived in Minnesota 35 years and finally moved back to Texas last January (Corpus). Never did like the gray, cold winter months and the humid hot summer months in Minnesota. Like the warmer year round climate in Corpus. Good to be back "home".

I live on the Iowa/Minnesota border and nights like last night when I was out shoveling and snow-blowing our driveway for 90 minutes in the wonderful -38 degree (yes negative 38 degree) wind chill that we get many, many days I was thinking about how nice it would be to get my butt down to Texas where it belongs. Cold is relative, but if we ever get out, I can't imagine that we would ever return to this oppression!

He couldn't either. He was telling you a tall tale. And it is pretty rare for the real temperature to get down to 40 below even in Minnesota.

At 40 below a cup of hot coffee will freeze before it hits the ground. I don't think there is a human being who could stand being outside in t-shirt for more than a few seconds. Seriously, you get frostbite and can die.

most of Texas has some very cold winters in MY opinion. heck, except for last Saturday when it hit 79 degrees, i have had to wear thermals, goose down filled snow suit, tall fleece lined UGG boots, scarf, hat, gloves, and on top of all that, a heavy Mossy Oak camo winter coat..just to walk the dogs. i have electric blankets on my couch in the living room and on my bed.
and i am here in Central Texas. i have lived in North Texas where it's about the same, maybe a little colder. i lived in South Texas for one year in 06, and i even broke out the snow suit and the whole winter ensemble a few times there too when walking the dogs...
so i dont know what yall are talkin about "moved to some place cold" as if Texas aint cold!!! Shoot, it was in the 20s this week here!
i know it gets colder in other parts of the country. TexasGirl@Heart i have never heard of that deal you use to thaw out your lock on your car door just to get in. wow. thats crazy! why on earth do people live in places that cold, or where you have to shovel every day in the winter? i watch it on the news and think WHY?
