Default Are employers in Texas hiring right now? (e.g. Dallas or Houston)

In Denver most employers in my field (trucking) have a hiring freeze due to the economy. I am still employed, but not not like where I work. Considering Texas. Thanks. ps.. I am not a long haul driver. I am a local freight delivery driver.

heard something on the news this morning about company wanting to hire truck drivers--or need for truck drivers--
you might check out channel 5 in dfw and see is there is something on their web site--was not paying any real attention

In this economy, if you have a job, I think you need to stick with it unless an offer falls right into your lap and it is a sure, solid thing. This economy and the job situation is just too volatile to consider giving up a job and relocating UNLESS it's an offer you can't refuse and you know the company is very stable or growing. Just my opinion and I do tend to be quite cautious, so take it for what it's worth.

Several trucking companies are hiring in my area (Houston area and smaller towns nearby), tankers, flatbed, box & a little further south, some refrigerated trucks as well.
I know Groendyke Transport has banners up everywhere around here offering sign-on bonuses.

My family was going to move up to the panhandle of Texas after getting laid off from a small electronics company, but another company hired her that is a little closer to the Houston area (at a higher salary) so we will be staying.
Many electronic manufacturing companies are hiring in this area.

I agree with Teatime, make sure you have a secure offer before you think of giving up what you have and making any moves. Texas' economy is ok right now but it is not what it was.

I drove by a Mayflower storage warehouse near Harker Heights a few weeks ago and saw a sign that said 'Now Hiring, All Positions'.

Saw a piece in the Austin newspaper said Travis County was gong to have a hiring freeze.

Jobs can be had, maybe not the one you want today.
