Depends on how big of an airport ya want. Are you talking GA or commercial? Maybe the Jacksonville area?

Probably Grayson County, Texas (Sherman) is what you may be looking for, based on your original post. Are you planning a move to Texas? While assuming that this is a legitimate and credible inquiry, can you offer any more specifics on what you're looking for??

Pick DFW, Austin, or San Antonio, and then look at the surrounding counties. You'll probably find nice options in each place. For instance, Kerrville (where we're moving in July) is about an hour from the San Antonio airport, and it more or less fits your description. The less part is that it's not super green, but Kerr County is quite nice overall.

I also thought of Parker County, just west of the DFW metroplex. There are some nice neighborhoods out that way. The population is increasing a bit, but the number remains well below 150K.

Texas is on my list along with a few other states.
A legitimate inquiry, yes.
More specifics, no those are my main objectives right now until I can narrow it down, I guess I could go into what I would love in my perfect place but that list would be mighty long and probably not realistic.

Austin,DFW,San Antonio are not really considered green. Thats East Texas - Tyler in Smith County fits most of that except almost 200,000 pop in the county 100,000 in Tyler, but the county is large in area almost 1,000 square miles. Does not seem large or crowded.

Look it up under city-data.com under Texas under cities - tells you almost anything you want. Also, Austin is considered by many as the most liberal city in Texas. Tyler is known for it's rose industry and azaleas, pines large oaks, minor hills but again "greener" and more conservative than anyplace mentioned, except Jacksonville just to the south of Tyler almost a sub. All faiths etc.

Yep ... I could name a few! I'm outside of a town (Woodville) of 3K and in a county of 17K. My drive to Bush intercontinental is an 1hr and 20-30 min. depending on traffic and the present state of the perenial construction on US 59 north of the airport cut off (Will Clayton Blvd). Livingston (pop. 6K), Texas would fit your criteria as would any areas south of that and even as far north as Diboll. These are north and east of the Houston area. Very wooded!

I think we all could narrow your search down with more criteria. I'd say a minimal of 45 minutes out of major metropolitan areas to have significant lower crime stats.

I never remove my keys from my vehicles or my tractor, rarely lock my doors, and have an open shop/tool storage. Never had any issues here. But I have a really alert good sized dog that barks and have the gumption and tools to protect if needed ... I am always vigilant but that is my nature!

I'd stay at least 100 miles inland from the coast where ever you decide to settle if along the Gulf.

Yeah, BobTex, that is nice country. Used to have a cousin in Lufkin/Diboll, related to logging people. Probly some of the nicest property in Texas. Wouldn't recommend it to anybody... only to prevent over population.
