Why do you say its not? I live here, and I have lived in very large cities and the country, and Waco has elements of both, but leans more towards the country townish.

Hardly any of the above towns are actually "county" - Tyler really isn't, but fills most of the other "requirements".

Born and raise there I havent done any thing you would consider to be country like, no farms no horses no cows, the only close to country was the HOT Fair and Rodeo besides that It was school, cars, money, women, and Baylor that pretty much it.
The suburbs of Waco are country China Spring, Robinson, not the city, oh no my friend far from it. A country town Abilene, Wichita Falls, Lubbock( Its like the desert country) West TX type or East Texas type towns listen to there accents, see what they do Waco is more centralized and in the middle of Dallas Ft Worth, Austin and Houston

I don't know if any city in a major metro area could ever be called "country town like," LOL. No slam against Ft. Worth -- I LOVE Ft. Worth -- but it's a BIG CITY that's "Cowtown" for the tourists! I can't picture farmers in their overalls with the missus in her work clothes, as well, in Ft. Worth shops or animals in their ag. trailers attached to the pickup out in the parking lot! That's ABILENE!

Uhh...Lubbock is not, I repeat, not desert. We get 20+ inches of rain per year, and almost all the land on the South Plains is farmland.

That being said, I think Abilene is the most country. It's what I think of when I think of typical Texas. It's a former cow town, and the landscape with the mesas and mesquite trees is picturesque. If you've ever eaten at Perini's Ranch, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Yeah I'm not really understanding how is Waco country. Waco is too diverse and big to be considered country. You want country?? Try the suburbs like Elm Mott and China Springs.

You can use many options like,
no traffic
amount of agriculture tied to the city
scenery
citizens mentality
religion
or anything else you feel makes a city feel more "country town like".

My votes would go to either Waco, Abilene or Wichita Falls......What do you think?
Lake Waco, Cameron Park, Valley Mills, Baylor University, and 17,000 people commuting to downtown area to work??? Yes Waco is very country
