In your opinions, what is Texas' most "country town like" city with a population over 100,000?

San Angelo or Abilene would be my vote. Both are still very in touch with their agricultural industries, and proud of their Texan and western heritage. Both also host excellent stock shows and PRCA rodeos!

San Angelo and Abilene, obviously, would be up there. Another city to consider is Corpus Christi. Not the entire city is like this, granted, but areas in the Tuloso-Midway and Calallen ISDs are. The Nueces County Junior Livestock Show is the largest single-county junior livestock show in the nation. No traffic in Corpus Christi, either.

San Antonio without a doubt. 100k is arbitrary. If we're talking about a population center that hasn't lost the character of its origins, it's definitely San Antonio. Otherwise we're just talking about cities of 100-200k people who remain underdeveloped.

I think we could also maybe add Ft Worth to the list as well. And BTW being a "country town like" CITY, is not necessarily a bad thing!

The reason why I mention Ft Worth, is IMO it still has a small town feel, despite having 750K people. After all Ft Worth STILL has the Stockyards! I like Ft Worth too, don't get me wrong, but I still think it has a country town feel mixed with a big city flair!
