I know what you mean. The extended pleasure comes with seeing more buildings being built after the initial high has worn off.

Well, I love North Texas because that is where I grew up and most of my family is still there. I love West Texas for the scenery and the climate.
I have been stuck in Houston for 5 years and I REALLY dislike it, (I don't like the word hate, but that would be more accurate.) Moving out of Texas all together this year because its either here or Pennsylvania.
I would love to move back to North Texas, but, it does not look like that will happen.

According to the statistics, Texas is really not one of the safest states in America. In fact, it ranks high on the list of dangerous states. I so wish it were just the opposite. It ranks #14.

I thnik taht Houston gets the bashing because its the fastest growing and the largest city in Texas now. Just as San Antonio is always bashing Austin and other cites it wants to be.

For Texas to be such a big and populated state. It is very safe, especially compared to CA and FL. If you have ever watched BET where they have the documentaries about gangs and how they live, you'll see lots of gang members relocate to Texas to start a new and better life.

Actually, that isn't so. CA ranks #13 and FL, #9. Texas being #14 and in this case of ranking, the higher the number the better.

In the case of murder, the lower the number, the better. CA ranks 10, FL 15, and TX 18.

Texas is large, but the population is only about 24 million, CA has 37 million, and FL, 18 million.

I don't care for Houston's climate or traffic problems, although it isn't alone. I like some things about it. But I prefer drier climates with more of a winter, and much less traffic (read: smaller). Fort Davis/Alpine/Marfa is my favorite part of Texas.

Houston has had a lot of skyscrapers built in the past 10 years.

No supertalls though, mostly 500-300 ft. & under.
