However, my real desire is to move to a place that's very INTEGRATED, regardless of the diversity (or lack thereof). I've been in a college that uses diversity as one of its selling points, but I have never seen so much segregation and ethnocentrism in my life, along with facing excessive racial discrimination from all sides.
If anyone could compare the INTEGRATION (the amount of affable race relations, close friendships and relationships with people from different races, people from different races but share the same cultural outlook, amount and acceptance of interracial couples and families, etc.) between California's major cities, Texas's major cities, and Washington DC, I'd really appreciate it. Not that I haven't done my research and can assume which ones are more INTEGRATED (my guesses are San Diego & Sacramento for CA and Houston & San Antonio for TX), but I just want to hear from people who have actually had experience living and observing the racial climate in these cities as well as that in DC and seeing which one's more healthier.

Dallas feels more segregated because it's a well zoned city (like metro DC). The DFW area has over 1,100,000 more Non-Hispanic Whites than the Houston area, so of course, there is the perception that DFW is more segregated. The suburban areas of Houston and Dallas are very integrated (Asians, Indians, Middle Easterners, Blacks, Hispanics, Whites) and feel pretty much the same. San Antonio is overwhelmingly White and Hispanic.
You really won't go wrong choosing either DFW or Houston.

Thus meaning Houston is the more diverse area.

Houston isnt really diverse its just theres 0 city planning or zoning so you have slums right next to rich neighborhoods.
Certainly places like the Woodlands are not diverse and thats where the growth is.

Houston isn't diverse? I guess that's why Houston is home to the 3rd largest number of foreign embassies in the country after NYC & LA.
Fort Bend County (Sugar Land) is the most diverse county in all of Texas.
Please stop with the Houston bashing when you know very little about the place.

Depends on your meaning of diverse. Ethnic or cultural. The biggest differences between the ethnic makeup of DFW and Houston, are Houston's larger Latin American and DFW's larger Non Hispanic White populations.
N-H Whites are segmented into many cultures. Irish, Italian, Scandanavian, English, Polish, French, German, Russian, Greek etc...
Is this not diversity?

I believe I posted a chart in this thread, or the Smackdown one. Look at it yourself.

Houston is more diverse. However Dallas is very diverse as well. Just because one is more than the other, doesnt mean Dallas isnt diverse at all, just not quite as much as Houston.

Don't forget the Middle East and North Africa.
And no, this is not diversity. Where have you been?
