Default Looking to buy property El Paso through Brewster County Area, Need Info on area

Hello, We are looking to move from rural farm area in New York to Texas. Looking at far West or North West. I would like to know about purchasing land in these areas of El Paso through Brewster County. We have 5 children and like large area to live on. Where would be a good place to live in rural area but be within a 25 minute drive to town for errands, banking, gas, library etc. Also are there any Walmarts out there maybe within 30 to 45 minute drive? If you know of anyone selling property or a good realtor in the area please let me know. Thank you.
Dawn

Be prepared for a culture shock. The area you mentioned is very sparsely populated and is in the Chihuahuan desert. Many areas do not even have cell phone service, unless it has changed in the past couple of years. There are a few towns that have the bare essentials you mentioned,Alpine,Marfa,Presidio,Van Horn. For a Wal Mart you have to go to Pecos or Ft Stockton. Also,be prepared to be a minority,or at least on a 50-50 split with the Hispanic population.Personally,I found the culture to be very enjoyable and laid back, but if you are one of those who get riled up over illegal aliens,or don't want to live in a predominantly Hispanic area, then you are moving to the wrong area.

Land is as cheap in this area as anywhere in Texas, and probably the US.
