Questions about Liberty, TX
Hubby's co. is going to build a plant in Liberty, TX. Just wondering about housing, things to do, likes and dislikes of residents.
We live in Kentucky right now.
Thanks,

It's been roughly 53 years since I lived at Liberty, and almost as long since I visited, so anything I could tell you would be worthless. However, best of luck in your business endeavors.

Ok, I have to ask.. Liberty TX, or LIBERTY COUNTY TX? trust me there is a difference.
Liberty TX is like 2 houses and an out-house not too far from San Angelo TX.. Maybe a population of 8 if your lucky.. cant see a plant being built there. But Liberty County TX is not far from Houston and has about 7500 or more people living there.
Welcome to Liberty County

I guess it's Liberty County Texas. Thanks for clearning it up, as hubby said it was just plain Liberty.
The plant will be close to Houston.

Liberty TX is roughly halfway between Conroe and Beaumont. Muhnay, the 2nd link you gave shows this.

Here is my take on it: Rural! Agricultural is the main theme here. The town is unpretentious, and has an "old" feel to it. That is not meant as a criticism, just an observation. Liberty sits on the banks of the Trinity river, which splits it from it's twin city of Dayton. Unfortunately, Liberty had massive flooding in 94', and lies much lower than Dayton, which is nearly flood proof. The elevation change between the two is striking when traveling down Hwy. 90.
People are homey and down to earth. For entertainment, either travel west to Houston, or to east to Beaumont. Housing is extremely affordable, but CHECK FOR FLOODING! If a prospective home avoided the 94' flood, buy it! (as far as I can remember, the majority of Liberty homes flooded then.)
All in all, not a bad place, but if I was building or buying, I would look just UP the road to Dayton. Dayton is growing at a nice clip, Liberty is not. Write back if I can help with more info, good luck.

I think you may have said that wrong. Liberty is a city in itself. it is the county seat of Liberty County. It is indeed a dump. I mean a real old dilapidated housing stock only sepertated by a nice farm/ranch now and then. The only 2 major roads to cross through Liberty is 90 and 146. I never ventured from these roads but what you see on the main road usually tells the story of the back roads.
I have a strange hobby of memorizing all the population signs up my way up 59 in San Jacinto County. I believe the city of Liberty was 8003 which would have been from the last census in 2000. I betcha it is higher then that but not by much. There is no building going on in Liberty.
There is an airport there but it looks pretty dumpy and old. There is only one major empoyer that I seen, looks like some farm with those big silos and lots of big trucks come and go from it.
Next to Liberty is Dayton which is another very old dumpy town. Nothing there either but some fast food franchises.
Liberty is about 20 minutes east of Cleveland which has everything one would ever need.
What kind of company are they building? What road?

I agree completely about the flooding. Check out Crosby or Dayton for places to live, Dayton would be less expensive with regard to insurance and taxes. Cleveland is another good option.

For something a bit upscale, Mont Belvieu.

Ok, do this.. goto GOOGLE MAPS and type in Liberty, TX and see what it shows you.
Funny how all of a sudden the experts come rolling out of the wood work once ol'Muhnay has something to say.
