75% of Houston is OIL sector to include tons of refineries.
There is tons of oil infrastructure up and down the CA coast. Much of it (but certainly not all) is poorly disguised, but it's still there.

-No, Houston isnt conservative. Houston is quite blue. It leans libertarian a great deal.
-46% not 75% of Houston's economy is oil related.

Again, the closest thing to Southern California as it ACTUALLY exists is the suburbs north of Dallas. Frisco and North Plano might as well be in Orange or San Bernadino Counties. There is nothing like the city of Los Angeles in Texas. Houston does have similar demographics to greater LA but thats it.

No offense, but......my ass.

106 (days of rain) 2017. 79.2 inches of rain
75 (days of rain) 2016 56.9 inches of rain
77 (days of rain). 2015 77.1 inches of rain

The entire historical average rainfall is 49.77 inches per year. Let's call it 50 inches. But for the last 3 years THOSE ARE THE NUMBERS. Imagine if you will it raining 70-100 days out of the year. Not just a little rain, but downpours. When I lived there we had entire soccer seasons CANCELLED because the fields were too wet to play on. We had to put our kids in basketball because outdoor sports were continuously rained out.

And the only places worth living like the Woodlands or Kingwood are RUBY RED ultra conservative.

And yes, the mosquitoes are something out of a horror show.

Don't even get me started on the flooding. Kingwood was damn near wiped off the map during the last flood.

But it's like SoCal........LOL. Right.

Excuse me, but did you just say that the Woodlands and Kingwood are the only places worth living in this area??? You complain it being conservative and then purposely seek out the most conservative places in the area??? Thats like moving to North Dakota and complaining about the cold. There are lots of suburbs in the area that are middle of the road like Sugar Land, Pearland, or even parts of Katy which are plenty worthy. Sugar Land and Katy are just as nice as Kingwood for sure. Beyond that, there are so many great neighborhoods in Houston itself that are middle class or better and anything but conservative.

And yes, Houston isnt like Southern California but I ALREADY SAID THAT, didnt I?

My dad said that in 1978 when we left CA. My post was a decade ago and believe me, I've changed since then. One has to grow up sometime. I don't feel that way now and when I reread my post, I was appalled at how ignorant it was.

A person might find some semi-CA-ish traits from the original post in various areas of TX, but not all in one area. I think the OP will be disappointed.

At least they disguise it. Here it's in the open.

This is the problem. What does conservative mean to y'all? TO ME it means living and letting my fellow residents live.

Conservatives have gotten a bad rap since Trump.

Funny that people think liberals are cool and hip. They are literally trying to censor what you say.

How's that cool? Higher taxes? Yay cool...?

Let's turn off the TV

Conservatism and liberalism mean different things to different people. I consider myself liberal because Im for immigration reform, for LGBT rights, against the death penalty (but Im also pro-life except in extreme circumstances), and I would like to see every American have access to health care.

I dont equate conservatism with bigotry, but there is a section of people that are bigots and conservatives. By that same token I dont consider liberals as socialists but there are people that are. I am liberal but a classic liberal more than a modern one. When I hear about AOC or Elizabeth Warren or Bernie, I want to gag. I love people like our new representative in Southwest Houston: Lizzie Fletcher. Someone who is left of center but is quite moderate.
