Texas has conservatives and liberals and is not narrow minded. Liberals out number conservatives in Harris County, Counties in south/southwest Texas (Specifically near the mexico border) Travis County, Dallas County, Bexar County and El Paso county still, majority of counties in Texas have more conservatives (but the # liberals is catching up with the # of conversatives).

Now....

As much as I really don't think he got a fair shake, I would have to admit, that sign is pretty funny!!!!

and BTW, where did the OP go? Seems he has skipped out on us..

Reading some of his posts, it sounds like he enjoy stirring the pot a little.

Where is the data that shows Harris County has more registered Democrats than Republicans and what makes you suggest that all of those Democrats are "liberals". Keep in mind that the 2006 Democratic congressional victory was due in part to blue-dog democrats winning seats.

Understandable. But my post was in regards to trends. Over the past few elections, Dallas County and Harris County has been trending blue. The republican vote became smaller and the democratic vote became larger. As a result, the democrats has basically taken over Dallas County since 2006 and Harris County is next. Texas could easily become the next Pennsylvania. The Democrats got the Philly area and the Pittsburgh area and get a couple areas between the two cities and they are basically a swing state.

As I said before (keep in mind that I've been voting since the 1960's) two things are in play here.

1. Texas has a "throw the bums out" mind set.
2. ACORN is heavily organized in some of the urban areas of Texas. That helped with the "turned blue" business but these blue guys better do the job or they will be replaced in the big picture.

#1 will always trump #2 when push comes to shove. Texans are willing to give almost anyone a "chance" to prove themselves BUT when they fail, then we vote another direction and "throw the bums out".

That's the way it's always been - that won't change.

Spade, I think you are dreaming...Yes, trends will always swing, and things will change, but Texas is nowhere near converting to a democrat voting state... Maybe 20 years from now, not in 2010 or 2012..

God help us if we lose Texas to the Libs!!!! This country is surely doomed and there is no more "SAFE" retreats in this once great country.

Texas won't go to what we think of as "libs" - Texas could easily swing back Democratic IF we had a good Dem President and Texans thought he/she did a good job.

Things are NOT looking to bright for that at this point. Obama has scared the pants off of much of the USA. The "hope" is going to despair and the "change" looks like straight down the road to total socialism or even worse. Far Left "Libs" and Democrats are two different things - just as Replublicans and Far Right social conservatives are two different things.

Mainstream American fears both ends of the radical wings. Good reason for that - history tells us that those radicals destroy countries. The real problem is that nobody considers him(her) self a "radical". Often we don't wake up to the danger until it's way too late. Look at Germany and what they went through. Hilter campaigned on "change" to Germany and he sure did fulfill his promise.
