Ennis shares the same climate with all of the other places in the Prairie & Lakes region of Texas such as Dallas & Waco. Winters can get down to the mid-low 20's when ever a northeasterner front blows through which happens almost every winter. Summers can get VERY dry with droughts lasting for months while oven like temperatures are baking you at 105 degrees.

Victoria shares the same climate with all of the other places on the Gulf Coast region of Texas such as Houston & Corpus. Winters are very mild with temperatures rarely dipping below the 40 degree mark & summer temperatures at 90+ degrees with a relative humidity of 80-90% making it "feel" like its above 100 degrees with the typical coastal afternoon rain shower to cool things off a bit.

I was born & raised in Victoria & my family still lives there. My question to you is, what do you do for a living? Victoria has little to offer job wise. If you don't work at a plant or are independently wealthy, there aren't many options.

The crime is getting bad. Housing isn't cheap, property taxes are ridiculous. City Council is bezerk, school board is drunk with power, schools are bad. When I lived there, my daughter went to private school.

I think you need to visit & look at other areas. Hill country is beautiful with similar weather. Suburbs of Houston, San Antonio or Austin would be better. Victoria is quickly becoming a "border town" without the charm of the border. Read the Victoria Advocate online & see what the town is really like.

You'd be better off in Ennis than in Victoria. Ennis is actually an up-and-coming community, and you have the D/FW Metroplex at your doorstep, yet you'll be far enough away from the traffic. There are some amenities there to help you get by. And historic downtown is worth a visit.
