In the first five weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has acted so rashly that at least 11 states have decided that his brand of “hope” equates to an intolerable expansion of the federal government’s authority over the states. These states -- "Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, [Minnesota]...Georgia," South Carolina, and Texas -- "have all introduced bills and resolutions" reminding Obama that the 10th Amendment protects the rights of the states, which are the rights of the people, by limting the power of the federal government. These resolutions call on Obama to “cease and desist” from his reckless government expansion and also indicate that federal laws and regulations implemented in violation of the 10th Amendment can be nullified by the states.

Not only have they implemented the 10th but also the 9th and 2nd amendment. Along with this they are putting laws on their Constitutions as part of states rights that any firearms made in these states, the federal government can not touch, which is part of states rights.

Cathy4017, That is what these 11 states or doing at this moment. The U.S. Constitution is still the best that there is, it is not limited , it is just that the federal government wants to turn it into a living document and rule us their way.

The Constitution IS limited, and that is the entire point of the Founding Fathers. It is SUPPOSED to be limited, with all powers not held by the federal government to be reserved by the states.

It's NOT a living malleable document, contrary to HO's and his ilk's belief.

Cathy4017, my mistake I misunderstood you. The Constitution is limited, which was a good thing. Our founding fathers could for see what would happen if it had not been. It seems that this government wants to turn it into one they can change which goes against what the U. S. Constitution stands for.

What's the matter? Afraid the new Supreme Court appointees won't be arch conservatives like the last batch of judges? That's too bad. Get used to the idea of upcoming Supreme Court and other federal bench appointees thinking and seeing things like our President. That is a good thing. And this time around that will be a refreshing change from the previous administration.

No, they'll be liberals like Ginsberg and Breyer.

It will be a change, but not a refreshing one.

There won't be any problems if they lay their parties aside and do their job. Interpretation of the Constitution is more important than left or right.

I'd prefer an application of the Constitution as written rather than some interpretive dance contrived to emote one's perception of a better idea.

Arch Conservatives...who, like David Souter? Are you kidding? Bush 1 appointed him under the thought that he was a conservative. Ummm...not so much. He consistantly voted liberal. Nothing will change on the Supreme Court with this new appointment, but hey, keep talking.

Listen Up People,It will not matter if the states keep going in the direction they are trying to go and that is states soverignty. Plus they are placing a firearm freedom's act into their amendments as well.
Who could have imagined that a draft request received on October 27, 2008 proposing an act to exempt from federal regulation the right to manufacture commercially or privately a personal firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition would actually pass? While tea parties were occuring all over the country on April 15, 2009, the Governor of Montana signed into law the Firearms Freedom Act. At the time of this writing, there has been little discussion of this in the mainstream media, but soon, they (the media) will be forced to report this because states such as Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, and Wyoming are following suit with similar acts in their state legislatures. As a matter of fact, Tennessee has started the voting process on their own Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act just this week.

I'm curious why the media, including the cable news channel networks, are not discussing this? This act is a direct challenge against federal law and will probably go to the Supreme Court. However, if that happens, Montana may threaten to secede from the Union. Texas has threatened this as well. If patriots band together, especially from the states that are proposing Firearms Freedom Acts, the Feds may have their hands tied and have no choice but to allow the states these freedoms. "Article II, section 12, of the Montana constitution clearly secures to Montana citizens, and prohibits government interference with, the right of individual Montana citizens to keep and bear arms. This constitutional protection is unchanged from the 1889 Montana constitution, which was approved by congress and the people of Montana, and the right exists as it was understood at the time that the compact with the United States was agreed upon and adopted by Montana and the United States in 1889." Legislative Services Division, Montana

This legislation should be a wake up call to the federal government that the American people will not tolerate any infringement to their 2nd Amendment rights nor their states rights regarding firearms, firearms accessories, or ammunition. The more states pass similar bills into law, the more difficult it will be for the federal government to enforce any future consideration of imposing stricter gun laws within state territories.

So, instead of 'Made in USA', we will start seeing 'Made in Montana' or 'Made in Arkansas' or 'Made in Wyoming' or 'Made in (fill in your state's name)'.
