Sure, Texas could be fairly self-sufficient, but the fact is that the USA would never allow TX to secede. (It's been tried.) I don't know what you base your opinion that LA & OK would want in; maybe so, but then again, maybe not. As you said, it's hypothetical to the nth degree.

This is not a myth, it is fact. The Governorship comes up for a vote in 2010 and there are a few who are running who want to go this route and they make a lot of sense. One of them is Larry Kilgore who makes a lot of good points. Check out these sites: Texas Secede, Texas Secession and lot more. If it means Texas getting destroyed by what Obama is doing I would say yes lets secede.

Texas provides the largest contingent of troops for the U.S. war machine. The True Texan will not have a problem with Mexico. Its the Liberals and Socialist who have moved here from up North who have the most problems and I say you need to go back where you came from. We know how to fight for our Freedom & Liberty.

If (and it's not gonna happen) Texas were to secede, within a year the state would be overrun with the Mexican drug cartels and we'd be completely powerless to stop it. What do you think is a bigger threat to them? The Texas National Guard or the US Armed Forces?

Stop being moronic. Secession isn't the answer...unless of course you're willing to be a member of the new Texas Army and fight the US and the Mexican cartels at the same time.

As I've said before, check out Kilgore supporter Bob Enyart. He's a "light" version of Fred Phelps. That's enough for me to laugh off Kilgore's candidacy.

I find it laughable that you're denigrating "liberals" while tossing around seditious talk about seceding. It's called hypocrisy.

Thank you for the reality check. Maybe the Texas Army will fight the US for independence, the Mexican drug cartels and also go over and fight the Saudis for oil to sustain the suburban blobs that make up so much of Texas' housing stock. That is, if people who want to secede can take a moment away from complaining about the "liberals".

I do not think you are listening but that is normal for a Liberal & Socialist. A True Native born Texan will be out there fighting along side the military. Texas has 23,507,783 people, our GDP is $1,065,891,000,000,our Oil production is 393,000,000 barrels, our Gas production is 5613039 MMcf. I do believe we will be alright.

I don't think YOU get it either. Secession will trigger a WAR with the US that will result in countless deaths. A war (where correct me if I'm wrong) the south has already gotten it's ass kicked once. You are an Un-American traitor. You'll hide behind the comforts offered you by the AMERICAN men and women on the front lines and then spit in their faces by suggesting Texas should just take their football and go home. The fact that you're allowed to spew your tripe without being hauled off by the police should be proof enough that we live in a great country. If you don't like it, maybe you should leave.
