Hello. Can someone assist me please? I am doing a research project on the Women's prison called Mountain View Unit. If one were to escape, what is nearby? Woods? Park? If there are woods and or a park, what are the names? Is there a creek or stream in the woods or park? Thank you.

Depends on how far you consider to be nearby. There are no woods in that part of Texas. There's scrub brush and some trees but no where to hide. There's some creeks but they're probly dry right now. There is a country club not far away, they might be hiring. A bit farther is Fort Hood and within that area there's a big ol lake from which springs forth a river than runs to the Brazos.

So the name of the facility is just delicious irony?

You might look at Google Earth and Mapquest to see what the topography is.

Mountain View is the women's death row unit. I know Gatesville and its prisons very well. I work there. There is no escape and there is nowhere to hide.

Oh trust me, even if you did, the odds are against them. These 5 large maximum security prisons, including womens' death row, are very secure. There have been very few successful escapes in the history of TDCJ.

I know, I work for them, but telling someone what is around a prison when they ask about escapes is not what I would ever do, or think is right to do.

Hmm.wonder what unit you're at. I'm just a contractor, so I only work there when I feel like it, and can work at any TDCJ unit.
Oh, believe you me, I sure ain't telling any inmate lovers or their families, escape routes. If they are smart enough, they can research it themselves. With Google Earth and the internet, you can find out anything you need to know.
