Found One
Here's one that I've never stopped at, but it's got ads on billboards a couple of miles away on either side as you approach it, and I've driven by it so many times. It's just six miles east of Glen Rose on U.S. 67. The name of the place is Dinersaurus, and the name, of course, pays homage to the region's dinosaur track legend. It is a small restaurant out in the North Texas countryside.

Just in time with this thread. My family will be checking out the Topsey wild animal park in a few weeks (thanks for the link). I will report back.
Any other must sees in this area? Keep them coming!

If traveling thru the Bay City / Palacious area, this tiny town & lunch stop is a MUST DO. Definitely "off the beaten track" is Blessing Texas.
Hotel Blessing Coffee Shop - Blessing, Texas
I used to travel that area once every 3 weeks & always made this place my noon time stop.

Thank you,
We are staying between Rumley and Topsey. Any where an hour drive or so from there would be great(a little more is no big deal). It will be my wife and I, as well as two 16 yr old girls.
We are just looking for some fun stuff to do or see.
I had heard about a drive in theater some where in these parts. Not sure exactly where, but it was supposed to be a cool family spot.
In the past we have seen the Billy the kid museum in Hico and the longhorn caverns near Marble Falls. The caverns were the highlight of the trip.
Any Ideas would be great.

Spree: I love that place (Dutchman's Hidden Valley) just north of Hamilton! They have excellent ham-on-rye sandwhiches, and it's a fascinating place to look around in. I always stop there when I'm on US 281.

We had a great steak dinner the other night in Avenger. It was called Five-D Cattle Company. Had very reasonable prices for a great steak! Pretty close to Lake O' the Pines.

Well, you've gotten me to thinking about Perini's in Buffalo Gap. Does that count?
