Beaumont to El Paso is more like 841 miles, not 741. (Houston is about 741.) The mile markers on I-10 go up into the 850's in Beaumont.

As the crow flies, it is 740ish miles...831 if you have to use roads...

I guess same goes for Chicago. I drove and it was easily 1100+ miles from Houston.

I have heard that the dome is not actually taller, but they made the lady on top tall enough so that the 'building' would be taller. I have no idea if this is true or not .
