What was your CB handle?
Greetings fellow Texans...
I feel a bit silly and "whimsical" this evening! Soooo....
For those who remember the 70's and 55 MPH speed limits and the days of the CB radio and "Breaker One-Nine"....did you have a CB radio, and if so, what was your "handle"? And any good stories about being on the "radio"?
Mine was "Royal Flush" Oh lord...

LOL If you are talking to me, no, I didn't have that. Now when I was a freshman in high school (1972-73), I DID have a "St. Christopher" medallion on a neckchain. For some reason, they were sorta popular back then.

Yup I knew you had some sort of chain! LOL. Do you remember that special sparkle type of gold paint also? My dad and mom divorced in 71 and I remember his place decked out in that stuff! What a single guy he was for awhile!

LOL Hell, Neddy, I STILL wear a gold chain of early '80's variety!
But seriously, not sure exactly what you mean with the gold sparkle paint...? Can you elaborate a bit? I might remember! LOL
Back to the topic of CB radios (today I would use the handle of TexasReb! LOL), does anyone even have them anymore...?

When I was a kid, my dad had one and so did my grandpa. I can't remember their handles, but when we'd go up to visit and we started getting within range of their house, my dad would radio to grandpa that we were close and we would talk back and forth on it until we got there. My handle was doodlebug.

My daddy's handle was 'Driller' and he loved his cb.....it saved lots of time and miles when he was out working in the fields....the farms were scattered over about a 50 miles radius.......if he had a breakdown and needed parts or had a change in plans or was just lonesome out there by himself, he could radio Mama and get whatever help he needed. And at night he enjoyed visiting with truckers passing through the area....doesn't take much to entertain you when you live in the boodocks of West Texas and don't have many other men to visit with.
