Most definately, Dahlonega GA.

I've been here three decades and would like the last few I have left spent in the mountains. We'll see.

Yes, I've been there, an absolutely lovely area. Helen was fun, but I liked Dahlonega much better. I don't care for Canton....too crowded. I think we're going to Dahlonega again as well as up to Jasper and Ellijay; I'm not sure where else. I'd love to see Blue Ridge too, and maybe we will.

Amicolola Falls; the highest waterfall in the Eastern U.S., is just west of Dahlonega. If you're up for the walk to the top of the falls you will see the beginning (or ending) point of the Appalachian Trail and one amazing mountain panorama view.

Have a great trip!

Thanks. I'll write that down and hopefully be able to visit it. Waterfalls and mountains....it doesn't get any better than that.

I suppose what I am asking, is I seem to always read threads about people wanting to come to this great state. I really never see threads about people wanting to move away from Texas; especially moving back north! Reading through these posts, it would almost seem as if there is a pilgrimage of some sort to Texas.

So, anyone out there who wants to get away from Texas, or is or actually has accomplished this and is happy about it?

I cannot wait to get out of this loathsome state.

As soon as my wife has fulfilled her work contracts and we can get enough for our house, I intend to pack up and never look back.

I'm sure the feeling is mutual. I hate loathsome miserable people inhabiting my state wreaking the economic benefits. Leave I say, leave now...
