So you say you grew up on Lakewood Blvd but have no idea what the high school mascot is? Puzzling, to say the least!

I'd like to move back home, but I married a native Texan so I'm not going anywhere, unfortunately.
It isn't that I dislike Texas (I've been here in San Antonio for 12 years) but I'm homesick. I want to be closer to my mom. I want to be within shouting distance of a major league baseball team (go Cards!). I miss good, cheap, Mom and Pop Italian restaurants. I miss living in a walkable neighborhood. I miss the St. Louis Zoo (world class and FREE). I miss spring and fall (but admittedly, NOT winter!).
But like I said, I married a native Texan so we'll never move. And I'm ok with that...but if I were single I would've moved back years ago.

Went to private school.
And yes, I grew up right where Lakewood intersects with Tokalon. Which made driving to North Dallas for school crappy, but not much can be done about that.

I've lived outside of Texas. I've been around the world. I live here again now, but I'd move out again if necessary.
But... no matter where I go, I'll always be a Texan. My body may leave this place, but my mind will always be home here.

Ah, that must be it. Drat the luck, if only I had gone to public school, Texas would be unicorns and daisies.

I've thought about "getting away" from Texas many times. I grew up in Houston, left for the military in 94 and didn't come back until 2003 to live in Lubbock and then in Amarillo in 2006. I understand all the posts here not liking the humidity of Houston, but then again, the cost of living is low there and there are good paying jobs there.
I decided to move to Amarillo to get the drier weather and not have as much heat also! LOL! It still gets hot here in the summer, but I didn't have a choice of moving out of the state b/c my license applies only to TX, and getting an out of state license requires jumping throught some hoops. I dream of living in the mountains of NM or CO but then I think of how great Texas people are and how I would miss the friendliness.
I've also dreamed of living in New Braunfels, TX, but haven't had the opportunity to get a good job there. Gotta go where the money is. I used to love going to the Schlitterbahn and drifting down the Guadalupe and Comal rivers with family and friends. You're not a Texan unless you've done this!
Now, I would still love to live in the Rocky mountains, but I am very aware that I would be giving up something if I left. I suppose it's the pride of being a Texan.

Ah...good times indeed. It's been a few years since I've been tubing.
Why do people always act like Houston is the only city in the US with humidity? I never see people complain about it in New Orleans or anywhere in Florida. I've been to both of those places numerous times and it's the same type of heat.
