Want to move to Van Horn
Hi Texas, I want to move back to Van Horn and wonder if Frank who owns the meat market still has rentals.

There isn't much that's changed, and anything there that has would be along Interstate 10. The population is still the same -- about 3,000. If your inquiry is legit, may I ask, why Van Horn?

I agree......why Van Horn?
We spent a couple days at the KOA there. Driving through the old downtown was like driving in a time capsule. Looked like the remains of a once proud town but since has gone the way of the Dinosaur. I remember the meat market. We went inside to pick up a few items but everything in the store had expired dates.
Yikes !! What a dump !!

Well, when my husband and I were there before everyone went out of their way to help us. I know there isn't a lot of things there and Frank's meat market isn't the best (thats for sure), but we like the people there. And that other market, I think its called Pueblo Market, the peole there were very friendly to us and very helpful. Oh, I know there are some not so good people there too, but thats everywhere. I would love to get ahold of one of those abandoned houses and fix it up but I don't know how to go about that so I would just rent for now.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing some growth out there. There'd better be, especially in lieu of Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin space tourism project north of town. It's expected to start launching in 2010. That's sure to draw interest from developers. And a little growth would be good for that part of West Texas. It would offer a potentially fine oasis between El Paso and Fort Stockton or M/O.

I agree. I like its location, a natural 'watering hole' for travelers. I think it will eventually take off, and might be a good place to have an interest in.

Van Horn area realtors
Hi I am on the other end of real estate in Van Horn.. I need to find a realtor to take a listing. I have five acres with the KOA campground sign on it and want to sell but because of the remoteness of the area can't find a realtor to take my listing.

I know your campground. We stayed there. It was peace and quite but that was because there were no RVers there. Real bad location, I wish you luck. It's a real nice place though. There is nothing in town worth stopping for.
As a full timer it's been a dream to own my own but not in a town like Van Horn.

Van Horn is a great place to relocate to if you want to work for a motel.
