IOW, if it doesn't look like Tyler or East Texas, it's ugly......

I like everything except for the mountains. I wish they would've put a skyline like Houston or Dallas in its place.

Oh and the reason for this new license plate is due to the increasing population in Texas.

What do you think of this new license plate?
Looks good to me. I didn't think it looked like mountains but more a reminder of Ike making landfall.

I got the seven year replacement tags this year so I won't be putting the new tag on the ol model T for a while.

Hideous!! I'm going to pay the $30 a year to have a vanity plate just to keep that ugly sucker off my truck!

I remember now. This is the one I voted for! Texas License Plate E-Vote (http://apps.dot.state.tx.us/services/vehicle_titles_and_registration/vote_plate.htm - broken link) I can't believe so many of you dislike it! The prominent Lone Star, wide open, blue skies at the top, that's quintessential Texas.

Love It!!!!

I can't stand the current "space shuttle" plate first adopted by Governor Bush in 1999. I would have preferred to keep the Texas-"Lone Star Flag" plate issued before that one than the space shuttle one.

The space shuttle plate has too many symbols and icons. It is too distracting. Keep it Simple Stupid! KISS principle should have been followed when designing the shuttle one.

The colors are nice. And hey! Our neighbors to the north have already adopted a new Oklahoma plate that is much nicer than our space shuttle plate, possibly nicer than the new Texas plate. But that is another debate for another day. Point is, it is about time TX changed the design of their plate to keep up with the times (the plate is "flat" versus embossed).

I'm not a fan of the new design.

But, I agree on the other points by TXSooner... the Texas Flag plate of the mid-90s was the best, hands down. You can still get that basic design as a vanity plate for "support the arts".

I also agree with the assessment of the current plates. Just a bunch of icons thrown together with no real cohesive design. It's like a bunch of stickers randomly placed on a plain white plate.

I would have preferred a much more basic design -- Texas doesn't strike me as the kind of state that needs a license plate with a bunch of colors or looking like some photo. Something more akin to a cattle brand, simple (because really, Texas speaks for itself) yet distinct. Kinda like UT's "We're Texas" slogan. No fluff required.

That's the trouble with a vote- bland wins.

It could be anywhere if it weren't for the small State outline.

I think that the color of the mountains clashes with the red of the "crayon scribble". Other than that, it's okay.

Not to bump an old thread but I came across this trying to find an actual picture of the new plate on someones car and couldn't find it.

Does anyone know if it's going to say " Truck " under Texas for the trucks on this plate too ?

Personally, I agree with you ErikU19, When we move down I'm thinking about getting the " I love Texas " plates..

Now that's a nice looking plate. The other one loks like some kid drew it IMO.
