Bandera I need you
I need advice on getting to Bandera. I have always wanted to live in the Bandera area. I have been applying for jobs all over the place out that way. I figure I'm not getting some of them because I live so far away. Is there anyone out there that helps people located jobs around that area, and housing? Is there someone that is self employed or works for a business that is need of office help, administrative assistant, and bookkeeper? If so please contact me! I do not have much more time on my unemployment, and I would like to move to Bandera and start a fresh life out that way. Also, does anyone know anyone that has a spare house possible on a ranch somewhere that would rent it out to someone trying to get established in the area? I have been in Montgomery all my life, raised my kids, and had a job until recently. There is no better time for me to move on, like the present. Please if anyone can help let me know. Its hard getting employers to take you seriously if you don’t live out that way. It would be great if someone could offer me a job and a place to rent. Thanks so much for your time. If you can help, please contact me. If you need my resume contact me as well. I hope to hear from you all soon.
Take care and God bless.

I've been there, and have a good buddy that lives on the outskirts. It is a pretty small town, I can't see that it would have any type of job market. You may want to contact the Bandera COC.
Bandera County Chamber of Commerce - Home
I can see why you are attracted to it, it is a pretty town. Good luck!

Yeah, cowboybootnut is right. It's a very small town. They DO know how to celebrate though. 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, nothing but parades and rodeos. My dad lives there in the country on 10 acres. You might try Kerrville for employment. It's only a 23 mile drive or so and most folks there drive to Kerrville quite regularly anyway.

I was about to mention Kerrville as a place to look for a job also. It's quite a bit bigger than Bandera and nearby so it'd be an easy commute.

It is in a very beautiful part of Texas. I like it a great deal.

I love Bandera, but it's as hot as blazes as is most of Texas. I'd choose it over Kerrville, but I don't like places where the population is exploding ever so quickly.

Gosamer - can your finances afford a visit? Come during the week, so you can pound the pavement in Bandera and get a feel for what might be available for you. It's an enchanting town - lots of tourist foot traffic on the weekends and special events.
If you can afford to visit - that's your best bet.

Thanks, I go there every summer. Thats how I fell in love with it. I will be up there March 14-17 for a quick visit. I plan on looking around for work, since I was laid off of my job that kept me away.
Thanks for your post

As far as book keeping, administrative assistant, etc... type work I'd suggest you try seeing if any of the Real Estate offices need help. There are tons of them, and even though the market isn't all that great right now that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a huge deal in Bandera. Also Bandera Bank, and the County offices there. Other than that good luck because as other's have said it's a small town without much of a job industry. Many of the people that have the opportunity to live a "Bandera" life are local small business owners, retired individuals, and old money (ie:ranch owners, etc...). In otherwords im sure half the people who have visited Bandera and like that type of lifestyle would love to live there also, but can not, that's just life I guess.
Another suggestion I would make is rather than going to Kerrville route I'd probably look into the NW San Antonio area for a job (ie: Helotes, 1604 from I-10 over to Culebra and north) because that area has many jobs and you could commute. It's about a 32 mile drive from Helotes to Bandera but you could possibly live in the Pipe Creek, or Lakeside areas on Bandera Road and have a happy medium like your looking for. As far as housing like you are looking for I wish you luck, but I know many people who have looked for that type setup in that area, and have had no such luck.
