Mr.
People here in San Antonio refer to the whole area as "Dallas." It is not really right, but people refer to us in the United States as "Americans" even though people in Canada and Central and South Amreica can make the same clame. I am not sure how to break people of such habbits. It is likely in the nature of the human beast to generalize.

I have seen projections which state that by 2030, Fort Worth will be bigger than Dallas because Dallas is completely surrounded by suburbs and can't grow much more.
|
Don't make too much of those projections, Fort Worth will slow down and Dallas does still have land in the city where they can add several hundred thousand in their own city limits.

Dallas still has land?
Well, I don't know what's gonna happen in the next 20 years, but Fort Worth has expanded and has room to expand the city limits even further. Also, Fort Worth could just start building up instead of out like Houston. Then again, Dallas could just do the same.....

I'm not at all offended by the idea that Fort Worth will slow down, although I think it unlikely. I don't want it to grow so fast that it turns into another Austin trafficwise. It's on its way.
Yeah, unless Dallas can get people to settle in the far southern portion, I don't see where they will put more hundreds of thousands.

South Dallas has plenty of land to add several thousands. Dallas in the very near future will start having to build up instead of out while Fort Worth has a long time before that can happen. The thing I do not like about Fort Worth's growth is that it's all suburban sprawl. Downtown is great but outside of downtown is very equal to what you will see in the mid-cities.

Now Dallas will probably never tear down much of the Great Trinity Forest. But they do have areas surrounding the forest like around Paul Quinn and other areas around South and Southeast Dallas that they can either gentrify or just simply build residential areas in them. If there is even medium residential zoning (which it seems Dallas is starting to do more so now instead of low residential zoning), than it can be done.
