If I hear one more person say Fort Worth is apart of Dallas....
You have no idea how many times I want to kick someone in he face when I hear someone say...
-"What part of Dallas is Fort Worth in?"
-"Fort Worth is a suburb, right?"
-"I didn't know Fort Worth was a city. I thought it was a name in the airport."
and, my personal favorite.....
-"Fort Worth is a nice place for a city its size...."
WHAT ?!?!?!?!
Fort Worth has over 700,000 people, we get mistaken for having much less.
And no one outside of the Metroplex even thinks that. Why? Because we're next to Dallas.
You always hear about Dallas vs. Houston...... Well, before that, it was Dallas vs. Ft. Worth. Regardless of what people think, the rivalry hasn't died. It began back in the 1800's when a Dallas Morning News paper said that Ft. Worth was so dull, a panther slept in the middle of main street. Huge insult. And it doesn't stop there. To this day, alot of Dallasites gladly boast about how they own one of the largest metro areas in America, how they have two Six Flags theme parks, the Texas Motor Speedway, and a good college football team in TCU. Yes, I have actually heard someone from Dallas say that TCU is in DALLAS! Alot of them take credit for things they DON'T have. It's bad enough we have to live with the fact that Fort Worth isn't as well known as the city 30 miles away, but it's even worse when they claim things the few things WE have. It's torture!
Well, I'm done for now. And remember, Fort Worth is a city that IS on the map..... you just can't see it because it's in the shadow of Dallas.

Well you answered your own question at the end of your rant. A couple points worth mentioning:
- The FW in DFW stands for something.
- Downtown Fort Worth is actually cooler than Downtown Dallas.

But it is ....... (ducking for cover)
Just messing with ya JJG. I gotta say, I spent a day in Ft Worth this past summer, It really feels like a South Texas city, definetly more of a western-like atmosphere there, I felt like I was 3 hours southwest of Dallas.

Imagine being larger than Dallas and even further away with your own sports franchises...

I guess people think it's a part of Dallas because of the "Fort" in it's name. Dallas residents are glad that people think that it's just a suburb to boost it's own reputation. This happens quite often too like: Raleigh Durham people think that Durham is just a suburb, Greenville Spartanburg (the airport is nearly fully in Spartanburg county but serves Greenville better so it is automatically thought of being a suburb of Greenville, SC), Minneapolis St Paul, and the list goes on and on!! NYC has a suburb named Hempstead that has a large populaion than Fort Worth but NY keeps it in it's place as a suburb.

Sometimes I dream of that.....
But I'm not askin to be bigger or further away from Dallas.... just a little recognition.
BTW, I always wonder about Arlington. I know a couple of folks from Ag Town who says that Arlington is its own city one minute... and the next, they say something like, "Yeah, I'm from Dallas...."

Yes, but DFW and Dallas are not the same thing. Although a lot of Dallasites like to use Fort Worth when it's convenient.

Well. I can understand Fort Worth's beef. Arlington's? Sorry. I don't. Arlington is a suburb in every frame of the word. They owe their existence to Dallas or Fort Worth. And if you mention Arlington to most people in the US, they will think you are talking about the one in Virginia.
