Paul Harvey...
Paul Harvey
He wasn't a Texan, but he was a "local boy of sorts". Born and raised in Oklahoma and first made his mark there.
As y'all know, he passed away yesterday at the age of 90. So just thought I would start a thread and get a few thoughts and recollections from those of us old enough to remember him and his classic radio shows.
I well recall his "The Rest of the Story" series. And of course, how he would sign off his morning radio programs with the phrase:
"This is Paul Harvey...Good Day".
Every bit a part of "Americana" in the class as Walter Cronkites' "And that's the way it is..."
He was one of the Great Ones, for sure.
Goodnight, Paul Harvey. Thanks for the memories.

This Is A Different Day Now In Radio
There's no question that Paul Harvey will be missed and there will be a void on radio that won't be filled like this ever again. I had to prepare myself for this moment, but it was hard to because you and I had to wonder how long Paul would continue. The question was "How much longer?" He didn't believe in retiring, and that explains his longevity. Now what remains is this: Who takes over now? Ron Chapman? Paul, Jr? We'll see what happens.
But there is a void today in radio. Our friend, Paul Harvey, has become the news now. He had delivered his last "......good day!" No question, he's one of the all-time greats. From Saturday forward, the medium that we call radio will never, ever be the same again.

I heard this morning he passed away and my first reaction was oh no. Then I thought how much I have enjoyed listening to him and how much he is going to be missed. It's sad. God bless you Paul Harvey.

I heard about it on the radio too this morning. I'll miss the stories too. My husband first turned me onto him through his stories in the Houston Chronicle. I also really loved those "Now for the rest of the story" blurbs.

Paul Harvey , the last of the radio greats. Nothing but pretty boys saying nothing today with no style. Another thing from my childhood goes away. I 'll miss you Mr. Harvey. Good day
