Never mind how it affects just me, but it will affect all of us at some point. All I can do is pray for rain. A friend and I get together every week and we pray together about things. And this drought will be mentioned. We prayed a couple of years ago for rain to end a previous drought, and the prayers were answered. We'll just do it again.

Case44, I've been praying for rain and glad to see you will be too. We need all the help we can get, that's for sure.
I have cows and horses and no rain means no pastures, no hay, higher feed bills, more numbers at the sale barns as people are selling their stock due to no pasture which results in lower prices. Water rationing, usually will have some loss of shrubs, trees, etc. lose some grass and then of course #1 item on the list is fire! We've been talking about the hot, dry conditions that are ripe for wildfires as we've had some days that are extremely windy with the low humidity factors added in. I pray to God we don't start looking like California in that respect.
No rain affects everyone from the farmer to the consumer, from commercial growers to home gardens. I've seen plenty of house foundations crack during droughts. It's just a complete overall bad deal. Pray for rain!

Yes, it is dire. I read an article in today's paper about all of the hell the farmers and ranchers have been enduring.
I'm usually starting my veggie plants from seed indoors at this time but I haven't yet. The article said the ground is bone-dry down to about 10 inches. I'd have to use a whole lot of water just to be able to plant and that's not a good or responsible thing to do.
Yes, we must all pray!

This drought is terrible! Did I hear right, it has been 19months since San Antonio area has had any significant rain? I patched a roof nearly a year ago because it was leaking...and I have not yet had the opportunity to see if my patch was sufficient.
Last week I flew down to some farms in the Hondo/Medina area and the crops were so whittled from the drought that the farmers gave up on growing.

Thanks for posting this. It makes me sick when I see ppl taking long showers, watering lawns, wasting water, etc. I am glad to say that many of the posters here are mindful that we are in a serious drought.

Prayer without true repentance has no affect. God doesn't want prayer out of fear but of faith. I moved from TX to TN to IN/Il and Texas residents don't recognize the blessings they have compared to other states. God expects to be revered not the last resort

Amazing that in 2007, Texas saw nothing but rain and the Southeast was in a heavy drought (still is to an extent). But now it has reversed only two years later.

I don't know-Houston's pretty green right now and the flowers are blooming! But, once you get to the Austin area (and in North Texas) it's dry as a bone.

A lot of the Houston's south side is extremely yellow & brown as well. It just depends on where you're at, and what kind of maintenance is being done. I tried to start a couple of 6 ft oak trees 2 months ago and I've just about written them off.
