Default A truly Texan saying...(?)

Alright, y'all, question for all of you...this is one thing that I say a lot...and I'm wondering if it's just one of those things that Texans say.

"have/had a conniption"

What do you think? Texan? Southern? Not relative to our region at all?

Well, I grew up in East Texas using/hearing the term "conniption fit". I suspect it's one of those phrases that is in multiple regions due to the fact that it's just so appropriate and so much fun to say.

It is fun to say! We used that growing up in the southeast (having a conniption fit) so it's not just Texan. However, there were a lot of sayings I had never heard before when I moved to Texas. Someone ought to start a thread about them. I'd be curious to see if some of the ones I've learned are unique to Texas or not.

"Howdy, pardner!"
"Howdy"
"Coul-djou tell me where's the nearest water for my horse? If he don't get somethin' to drink soon, he's gonna have a conniption!"
"Yep, there's a tank over yonder"
"Thanks!"

And I don't want a paddlin'!

I grew up in north central Texas and east Texas and heard it both ways > > conniption fit and hissy fit. Maybe one was a little bit bigger fit than the other one! I usually say hissy fit myself. There are at least a couple of older threads on here full of these old sayings. I think it's fun to see what everyone comes up with, some I've heard as a kid and had forgotten, some I still use to this day, such as uselass as t**ts on a boar hog. I still think it's funny when you say something about the tank, then you have to explain what the tank is, then they look at you and say, oh, you mean a pond!

A hissy fit is a small conniption fit.

I learned that saying very young growing up in California. Conniptions are not just for southerners.
