It's a fairly sleepy city of about 40,000 people. Main things I recall from my visit there were that it has a Wal-Mart and an Air Force base.

Been on Laughlin Air Force Base (Del Rio) a few times and it's "sleepy" too as far as bases go.

Lake Amistad is beautiful. I was on a motorcycle trip and wanted to go into Del Rio, but I could see a heavy rainstorm right on top of it, so I passed it by! It certainly has hot summers.
