Another year? I was thinking that I should buy some land in the Hill Country whether or not I ever get a chance to build there. I think it would be worth doing, but I'd like less than 20 only because I can't afford that many.

I have always thought the areas north of San Antonio along Hwy 281 (South of Blanco to just south of Burnet) were always quite scenic.

Some of the vistas when traveling west on Hwy 82 (west of Benjamin to just before you get to Crosbyton) are also quite breathtaking.

You're going to have to go to west Texas to find the prettiest place. I'm still shocked that as beautiful as it is, people haven't been flocking there in droves yet (thank God that isn't the case, though).

I did find the hill country 30 minutes west of Austin (Austin is NOT in the hill country, btw) to be breathtaking.

I have spent most of my life in North Texas, so I have LOTS of exploring to do-heck I havent even been to Boerne, Gruene, or Fredericksburg like my PA friend TexasGirl@Heart!!! (it's not that i was homebound, its just that when i ventured outside of my North Texas region, it was to CO, NM, etc.
But so far, the prettiest place around here that I have seen is Salado, followed by Lampasas. Also the drive on 281 from Blanco to Lampasas.
The highway I drove through Van Horn, with the beautiful rock formations along the road.
Up north, Possum Kingdom Lake area. And yes I agree with those who said Glen Rose.
