Info on Longview Texas
My girlfriend has an opportunity to work at Good Samaritan Hospital in Longview so we are looking for information on the town. We will be looking for an apartment convenient to the hospital and also near shopping and entertainment. What is Longview like as far as crime and safety? Are there areas to avoid? We will be moving from a small town in north Alabama.

There are some nice apts in Longview. The hospital is located in a very central part of Longview...so really any direction would be good. I only know where the shopping areas are so I wouldn't be much of a help but I think there are some nice apts. around the mall/Target area. This seems to be a very popular area of town. Welcome to Texas!

Good Shepherd Hospital is centrally located like destin says, and is equally accessible from any side of town. Traffic isn't too much of an issue from any direction, and depending on where you live, drive time could be 10-20 minutes. As for where to live, go north young man, go north. Or west, or east. Just don't go south. Most of the better apartments are north and west of Good Shepherd, with fewer selections east. The south side is mostly the oldest part of the city and has a number of undesirable areas. Of course, there are cheap apartments on the south side should you so desire. Longview also has quite a few duplexes scattered around that might give you a little more privacy than apartments.

Since I don't actually live in Longview anymore, the only info I can offer on Regency Park Apartments relates to location. It is a good location, with convenient access to major roads, about a 15-20 minute drive to Good Shepherd Hospital, and about 10 minutes away from Longview Regional Hospital (check it out also). There are other apartments and duplexes in the immediate vicinity, and Pine Tree High School is about a mile away on Fairmont. You are only 10 minutes or so away from the major shopping areas on Loop 281 which include the mall, Home Depot & Lowes, Sam's club & Walmart, restaurants, and more. I doubt there would be any more problems here than in any of the other apartments in the area. The area is (or at least used to be) relatively safe and is not run down. This would be be a good location to start from until you learn the area a little better. Hope this helps.

I'm finding some really bad reviews on Regency Park Apartments as far as crime in the area. Is this a true representation of the apartments and area? Looks like we will be moving by the end of the month and don't want to end up in a bad area.
