Default We're No. 50! Where Texas ranks last

statesman.com | We're No. 50! Where Texas ranks last: | Focal Point

Texas ranks dead last (worst) in:
  • Residents over age 25 without a high school diploma
  • Average credit score
  • Voter participation
  • Uninsured residents
  • Cancer-causing compounds released into the air
  • Toxic chemicals released into the water
  • Toxic chemicals released underground

Some good news: Texas is no longer No. 50 in teen birth rates, having moved to 48th.

ATX Homeboy will become famous soon enoughATX Homeboy will become famous soon enough
Residents over 25 w/o diploma - Every society needs ditch diggers and fast food workers, otherwise they would be competing with us for the more lucrative jobs.

Other peoples' Avg Credit Score doesn't matter to me because I can buy a new car or house.

I vote. Who needs the proletariat vote anyway? More importantly, the state of Texas isn't bankrupt like errrrr CA.

Insurance is a SCAM. You pay & pay, then your house burns or car trouble and the insurance co. doesn't want to pay so you gotta sue in civil court just to get what they promised in the first place.

MMMmmm. Fresh Texas Air. Pollutants blame it on rampant growth.
Toxic Chemicals in the water means a free chemical peel.
Toxins underground blame it on the people living/building in Balcones/Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone who live in their McMansions & drive their Suburbans or just forget about it because if you can't see it, it can't hurt you.

Teen Pregnancy - Been going on since the dawn of humanity.

* Residents over age 25 without a high school diploma
Ok, so the message is if you come to Texas with a high school diploma, you'll already be ahead of 21% of the population when it comes to getting a job.

* Average credit score
Again, the message is if you come here with a decent credit score, you'll be ahead of the game from the start.

* Voter participation
Solid red state...

* Uninsured residents
Probably the worst of the list. Effects everyone.

* Cancer-causing compounds released into the air
* Toxic chemicals released into the water
* Toxic chemicals released underground

All these are Green Media Toolshed nonsense. Check the link -- Pollution Locator: USA. Total #s used for all these rankings, not percentages, and Texas is a huge state. Look at the map on their site and decide whether you'd want to breath the air here vs. the NE coast.

Also regarding the last three....Texas fuels about half the country and produces a massive percentage of the basic and secondary materials used in manufacturing. Per ton of product produced, Texas is better than most states. Per capita or per ton consumed, way ahead of most states. CA probably has more stringent control requirements (although it is difficult to separate rhetoric and fact), but it is driving all production out of state and/or overseas and the cost of anything locally produced through the roof.

If we didn't have so many illegals, then our rankings would go WAY up in many of those categories.

True, we have our fair share of illegals, but don't kid yourself, we also have our fair share of low-class, sorry no good white trash. These people in my opinion are a class WAY below the illegals. At least the illegals are trying to better themselves and their families. These sorry a-holes have it all at their fingertips for the taking, yet they choose to sit on their sorry tails and whine and expect handouts.

They have no insurance and they don't worry if they broadside your automobile. They just leave the scene and little good does it do you to have their license tag or DL#. 99% of the time they have numerous warrants out for them, cops don't want to pick them up, the jails are full and they know fining them is a big joke. They don't have a pot to p*ss in. So, honest cops just tell you flat out it's a bad deal, the cops that don't want to admit it will just keep sandbagging you along till you finally quit wasting your time on it.

They are too lazy to finish school, too lazy to work. They'll breed like rabbits. Yes, we like to blame the illegals with everything and I am as bad as anyone in doing so. But to be truthful, we have our own homegrown version of costly troubles.

You need to look at the statistics. Minority high school graduation rates are HORRIBLE. OF COURSE there are white people who are dumb and lazy but the vast majority graduate from high school and don't live below the poverty level. That's not true of the illegal Hispanic population, which continues to grow at a FAR higher rate than the poor white population.

ParaPundit: Texas Has Lowest High School Graduation Rates

This is from 2004 but the problem remains the same. It may even have gotten worse since the TAKS tests MUST be passed to graduate from high school. I personally know students where I taught who were unable to pass it and aged out before they could receive a diploma. Some of them returned to Mexico.

Quote:
For the second straight year, Texas has the lowest percentage of high school graduates in the nation, according to a U.S. Census Bureau study released Tuesday.

For Texans over age 25 the rate of having a high school diploma is white 91%, Asian, 89%, black, 83%, and Hispanic 51%.

WOW, that's pretty high for white...I frighteningly low for Hispanics. Now you know how the democratic party stays in power
