Perryton, TX - Need some info =)
I'm coming to visit Perryton here in the next few weeks to handle some business. I'm flying into Amarillo and driving up to Perryton.
Soooo I'd appreciate any information anyone could give me on some decent hotels near the area? I'm talking about 4 star and above hotels. It doesn't HAVE to be in Perryton (from my research I am aware there are no 4 star hotels there ) but along the route from Amarillo maybe?
Any dining or entertainment reccomendations?
Thank you in advance

I've hesitated to respond because I'm not sure your post is legit. However, if you've never been to the Panhandle, I suppose it may well be. Assuming you are sincere, I am also going to assume you are not going to Perryton on business with the pig farms, oil business, or wind farms (the only 'business' there) or you would know the answer to your questions.....the answer is - 'there are no fancy hotels, entertainment, or fine dining either in Perryton or between Amarillo and Perryton." You might be lucky to find gas for your car between the two (you might stop at an Allsups convenience stores and get one the good little burritos they keep under the heat lamps, tho - just a suggestion). Don't fret too much, tho - it's only a 3 hr drive and you probably won't meet many cars.
Seriously, if you need recommendations, you might call the president of the bank (or the president of the pig farm - he's the Big Dog in town)....I'm sure they can refer you to the better places. The best place we found when working there was a motel out in the south edge of town....good food (buffet, I think) and clean. Hope you like chicken fried steak.
I hope you enjoy your visit there.....there are some of the best people on earth there and they are always glad to meet someone new. Best wishes......I'd love to hear a report after your visit there.

Its been 13 years since I was in Perryton, so probably everything has changed. I was stuck there for a few weeks working on a project. I stayed at the old Ambassador Inn, on the south side of town and may have been the same hotel that GayleTX stayed at. It had a cafe next door for breakfast and dinner. There were some decent restaurants there, but nothing extremely special. It is probably still dry too, I remember some of the people that I was with drove to Liberal KS to get beer. The people were friendly.
You would have to stay in Amarillo for a four-star hotel. There ain't much between Amarillo and Perryton.

Don't blink or you will miss it....I was there about 3 years ago..
You may want to think about staying in Dumas Texas... It's closer to Perryton and 45 minutes north of Amarillo.

Oh yeah......it's only 85 miles from Dumas to Perryton - and bound to be much more fine dining and entertainment there - after all, they have some feed lots there that are big draw for tourists (and is that where the big cheese factory is?).

Thank you! Actually I'm very legit. I have to go there for court purposes. I'm from the east coast and have never been anywhere ..well..NOT on the east coast. I live in Atlanta and from New York so a small town is rather foreign to me.
I've researched Perryton and frankly am a little scared to go there. I did manage to get in touch with their Chamber of Commerce and the exceptionally nice lady that I spoke with referred me to some Bed and Breakfasts or the Best Western.
I guess I'm just a little leery because I've never stayed at a small hotel or been to a small town and I don't know what to expect. I am sorry if I am coming off as a snob but it's just not my area of expertise.
Thank you for all of your answers!! I appreciate it very much.

Please don't be afraid......the people in small towns in West Texas are usually to happy to see a new face that they will kill you with kindness.....if you'll listen to them they will talk forever and take good care of you - and they will probably want to know everything there is to know about you. The area probably will feel a little strange to you.....no trees or tall buildings to protect you is what I've heard folks from areas with trees and buildings say....but just get outside and enjoy the sunrises and sunsets (because you can see them both and they are spectacular in that part of the world).
Enjoy your trip.......we'd love to hear a report when you're back home!
