I will just give you a plain and simple, "No." I'm looking into moving from the hot summers in Texas and Utah is one state I've been scoping.

Texas is a great place to live - I guess the proof in that is how many people move here and then say "shut the door now that I'm here". I live in a large neighborhood, I'm the only native Texan.

As you can plainly see (and I've often said), Texas is NOT for everyone. There are those who really give it a try and just can't adapt to either Texas or Texans. No doubt about it - we are an independent sort down here and it's just not for everyone. Really think about it before you make the move - there is everything from mountains, oceans/beaches, desert to high plains and piney woods .... but, Texas is not for everyone. Good Luck with your search.

Different strokes for different folks - it's what makes the world go 'round.

There is no place in Texas I would want to be in the summer (or winter for that matter). But unfortunately I will be spending another HOT STICKY HUMID summer in Houston If you are bothered by heat, stay away the south Texas and east Texas for sure.

Default You Make The Choice

You can always try. Don't let heat be that big of an issue, unless you are just completely bothered by temperatures 80 degrees or warmer. We have lots of sunshine in this great state, and that more than makes up for all of the weaknesses folks often speak of. You'll like the winters, spring, and fall. How you deal with summer here will be up to you. We'd love to have you, anyway, so bring a car with great air-conditioning.

Besides, you could use a good chicken-fried steak right about now.

Far West Texas (alternately called Trans-Pecos Texas) is still hot in summer, but the humidity is much lower. Fort Davis/Alpine/Marfa is my favorite part of the state. The low humidity makes it much more bearable.

I don't know about coastal towns, but beside the dry heat summers in west texas, Port Isabel, because of the gulf influence might be considered ''mild'' to most in Texas. When we (McAllen) did hit 101° Port Isabel was in the mid 80s.

For March McAllen hit the 100s- 1 time, 90s-7 times, 80s-17, 70s-1, 60s-4, 50s-1. Port Isabel on the other hand had highs in the 100s- 0 times, 90s-1, 80s-2, 70s- 22, 60s-3, 50s-3. So there might be a spot, not too hot
